Minnesota Science Teachers Association Honors Two SPPS Educators
The Minnesota Science Teachers Association (MnSTA) recognized two educators from Saint Paul Public Schools at the 2023 MnSTA Conference in Rochester earlier this month.
Josh Leonard, Education Director of Belwin Outdoor Science, received the Science Teaching Award for Elementary. The award comes with a $1,000 stipend to put toward a classroom project. Josh will use the stipend to support the SPPS Tulip Test Garden Project that is currently in its eighth year. Read more about last year's project here: spps.org/Page/44169
In addition, SPPS Online High School life science teacher Beth Robelia was named a finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). PAEMST is the nation’s highest honor for U.S. K-12 STEM and/or computer science teachers. The award is administered by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The state finalists are selected by a Minnesota committee and then move on to the national review.
