¡Hola! ¿Quién soy yo?

Yo soy Profesora (Profe.) Butler.  I started taking Spanish in 10th grade because the other electives I chose to take were already full.  I continued to study Spanish because I though it would be useful.  The more I studied the more interested I became in the language, culture, dance, music, traveling & life-long friendships. 

I am an ally and advocate. My classes are a safe space for all students regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age or ability.  You will be treated and respected as a human being.

Soy la Profesora Butler. Empecé a estudiar el español en el décimo grado porque las otras clases que elegí ya estaban llenas. Seguí estudiando el idioma porque pensé que sería útil. Cuanto más estudiaba, más me interesaba el idioma, las culturas, el baile, la música, los viajes y las amistades para toda la vida.

Soy una aliada y defensora. Mis clases son un espacio seguro para todos los estudiantes, independientemente de su raza, religión, etnia, origen nacional, género, orientación sexual, edad o capacidad. Serás tratado y respetado como ser humano.

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of the Spanish-speaking world in our Spanish 1-4 courses, designed to introduce you to and acquire the language through thematic cultural units and comprehensible input. 

Embark on a linguistic and cultural adventure with Spanish- where you will explore culture through comprehensible input. By the end of each course, you will not only possess basic/novice - intermediate/advanced language skills, but also a deeper appreciation for the rich diversity of Spanish-speaking communities around the world. ¡Bienvenidos! Exploratory Spanish

-7th Grade Half year 

-8th Grade Year-long

Journey into a vibrant and immersive journey of the Spanish language and cultures with our Exploring Spanish class designed specifically for middle school students. This introductory course focuses on thematic cultural units and comprehensible input to make language learning engaging, accessible, and fun. By the end of the course, students will not only have acquired basic language skills but will also possess a newfound appreciation for the diversity and beauty of Spanish-speaking cultures . ¡Bienvenidos! The Spanish 1 & Exploratory Spanish courses are perfect for beginners and emphasizes a communicative approach to language learning, allowing you to acquire language skills naturally and effectively.  Throughout the course you will explore diverse cultural themes, each serving as a gateway to understanding the language in its authentic context. Emphasizing comprehensible input, this course is designed for learners who have completed Spanish 1 and 2 or have a comparable language background (heritage speakers and immersion students). Prerequisite: Spanish 3 or instructor approval

Designed for advanced students who have successfully completed Spanish 3 or have equivalent language proficiency, this course integrates high-level language skills, deep cultural exploration, and focused preparation for the SEAL of Biliteracy test. Tailored instruction focuses on the specific skills assessed in the SEAL of Biliteracy test, including advanced reading comprehension, analytical writing, listening, and proficient speaking. Practice tests and feedback sessions prepare students for excellence.
