About the Teacher

Dr. Magalenn Cotton

My name is Dr. Magalenn Cotton.  I was recruited to Minnesota from Mississippi in 1991 to teach for Minneapolis Public School District as a 2nd grade teacher.  While in Mississippi, I taught kindergarten for 4 years and high school as a reading recovery teacher for grades 9th-12th.  I have taught grades K-Adults and have enjoyed every moment.  I believe that learning never has an end in this world!  I graduated from Mississippi Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  I received my Masters in Education from Concordia University located in Portland, Oregon and my PhD in Educational Leadership at Northcentral University located in Prescott Valley, Arizona.  I am married with 4 adult children, 1 goddaughter and 5 grandsons.  I am so excited to have the opportunity to work in partnership to educate our children to ensure that they are able not only to compete in an ever-changing society but, to be leaders in this society.
